Basics Class: Dive rolls + Ura Gyaku

May 22, 2007

Monday May 21st

We looked at dive rolling and showed how the structure of the arms is important for receiving the ground. I also had the students push each other in the walls to show the same thing – does it matter if the surface is vertical, horizontal or human shaped?

We then spent the rest of the time looking at Ura gyaku basics as thought by Someya Sensei in Japan. It was nice to go to do variations on this in  Ed Lomax’s class later on. Shidoshi Glenn Nevin chimed in the basics class too so thanks to him.
