Class Record: Okuden + Counters + Tenchi Giri

November 2, 2007

Class: Thursday 1st Nov

Oni Kudaki got a new twist with some further exploring of it via the Okuden level techniques of Kukishin Ryu Dakentaijutsu. We followed it up with some counters and counters to the counter, which actually appear as kata is their own right. In the end it’s all about timing and positioning. These counters involved all sorts of gyaku and strikes at close range.

Our sword study involved a look at Seigan and Hasso no kamae in a dynamic fashion with a strategic use of the vertical cut – tenchi giri – to gain access to uke’s space.

Thought provoker: Ever try sword with left-hand over right?
